Here’s your choice of a different type of story than the last promo offered. These are all fantasy, sword and sorcery, pure science fiction, and the like, but no romance.
My entry is the first novel in my Belter Series. It received a President’s award from the Florida Publishers and Authors Association.
When I was writing Pirates of the Asteroids, I initially thought it would be a fun but not terribly serious book about pirates. Once I got into the story, it turned into a fun book with a serious plot that is a bit of a commentary on today’s world.
One man’s pirate might have good reasons for his actions, and one of the best is a struggle for freedom from an oppressive system. Adam is a bit of a nerd, but he has impressive hand-to-hand fighting skills. He’s also developing space battle tactics from scratch since, at the time of the story, humans have never engaged in ship-to-ship combat. Luckily, he’s also given to the habit of thinking things out and planning. It comes in handy, as you’ll see.
His original reason for going to space involves a woman, betrayal, and a deadly threat. He didn’t plan on anything but escape, but when circumstances land him on the Dire Rhea — yeah, I know it’s not the most auspicious name for a ship, but the captain had his reasons — he makes the best of the situation, and earns respect from his shipmates. He’s going to need it since things turn serious quickly.
I’m repeating the below text for the benefit of new subscribers (Thank you!!):
Hope you’re enjoying “Second Wave.” When I finish posting the 40 chapters, I will most likely move on to the third novel (Confederation) in that trilogy, so if you’re hooked on Declan’s adventures, there are more to come.
If you’re new to my Substack, I’m releasing The Gaia Ascendant Trilogy from my early writing. The books will remain on my Substack and are available for free. You can either browse through the posts until you find the beginning of each book or you can subscribe and receive a chapter a week.
I sometimes interject a book promo or even a short story in the flow just to keep readers on their toes. I want to provide some fun reading. My (perhaps naive) hope is that you’ll take the time to check out my other books. They’re available on all Internet stores and in print through your favorite bookstore (they might have to be ordered).
